Medical Social Welfare
The Medical Social Work Unit of Hospital Putrajaya is located on the ground floor of the hospital building, near the specialist clinics.
1.VISION
Towards enhancing the communities well being in accordance with the development of integrated health care and smart partnership.
2.OBJECTIVES
- To enable clients to address and empower them to manage the social and emotional situations faced due to diagnosis or treatment being received.
- To enable the client to gain the maximum benefit from treatment.
- To enhance clients ability to function within the community as best as possible, towards attaining a better quality of life.
- To contribute to the clients care by providing the medical personnel involved with an understanding of the psychological, social, emotional, behavioural and economic situation of clients and thier families in order to enable a holistic approach to treatment and rehabilitation.
3.SCOPE OF SERVICES
- The Medical Social Work service is available to both inpatients and outpatients.
- Referrals from other Medical Social Work Departments and district health clinics will be entertained
- Where feasible and where the need has been identified, efforts will be made to support and engage in the development of projects within the community that is being serviced.
4.ROLES AND FUNCTION
- Facilitating clients return to the community through networking, negotiating and enabling.
- Emotional support will be provided to enhance the recovery process.
- Practical assistance will enable clients to achieve optimal social functioning.
- Home visits need to be conducted to observe and assess the client system, where deemed necessary.
- Supporting and engaging in the development of community projects shall be conducted in order to create a greater resource pool for clients.
- Conducting training programmes for hospital personnel regarding the roles and functions of medical social workers towards enhancing the multidisciplinary approach in providing care for clients.
5.SERVICE HOURS
Monday – Friday: 8.00 am – 5.00 pm
Lunch Hours : 1.00pm - 2.00 pm (Monday – Thursday)
: 12.15 noon - 2.45 pm ( Friday )
