Diabetes Resource Center
Introduction Ø Diabetes education and patient support is an integral component of diabetes management. Ø The Diabetes Resource Centre was set up and launched in September 2002 in line with MOH initiatives to strengthen diabetes education within MOH health facilities.
Objectives Ø To enhance quality of diabetes care through education and counselling of patients and families Ø To enhance communication between care provider and patients and their families Ø To provide support services for self-care Ø To enhance staff competency in managing patients with diabetes Ø To promote collaboration between the public and private sectors and with NGO, and encourage community participation Ø To provide diabetes registry and database Ø To support research in diabetes and related disorders
Scope of services Ø Individualised counselling and education Ø Provide information through various methods: o magazines, brochures, books o audio-visual aids ( videos, CD-ROM) Ø screening for diabetes in high-risk groups - blood glucose, blood pressure, weight and BMI Ø To encourage multidisciplinary networking (between units, hospitals) Ø To facilitate procurement of items relevant to diabetes care, eg. Glucometers, lancets, insulin pens/needles, guide books, footcare items. Perkhidmatan Yang Disediakan:
